A most harassed prophet by a most shameless people in the history.

Inform My servants that I am the Forgiving, the Merciful (49) And that My punishment-- that is the painful punishment.(50) And inform them of the guests of Ibrahim:(51)
Holy quran: 15-Hajar (verse 49-51)

The guests of Prophet Abraham (angels in human form) entered his house to give him the good news of having a child, although he was very old and barren. After the good news, Abraham asked them what their mission was. The angels said they had a mission to destroy a sinful people.

-But what sin did the people of Lout commit?

They were inclined to homosexuality and did not refrain from this ugly act, despite the advice and warnings of Prophet Lout. When the guests arrived at the house of Lout, he was saddened by the fact that the people of the city would find out about the presence of the handsome angels and harass them. At the same time, the people of the city found out about the guests and moved towards the house of Lout. He told them not to harass the guests, but the angels said not to worry, and by fulfilling their duty, the believers and Lout would be saved and the city of Lout's people would be punished by God's command and turned upside down and completely leveled with the ground. The people of Lout were so sinful that the wife of Prophet Abraham was very happy to hear the news of their punishment!

And certainly Our apostles came to Ibrahim with good news. They said: Peace. Peace, said he, and he made no delay in bringing a roasted calf.(69) But when he saw that their hands were not extended towards it, he deemed them strange and conceived fear of them. They said: Fear not, surely we are sent to Lout's people.(70) And his wife was standing (by), so she laughed, then We gave her the good news of Ishaq and after Ishaq of (a son's son) Yaqoub.(71) She said: O wonder! shall I bear a son when I am an extremely old woman and this my husband an extremely old man? Most surely this is a wonderful thing.(72) They said: Do you wonder at Allah's bidding? The mercy of Allah and His blessings are on you, O people of the house, surely He is Praised, Glorious.(73) So when fear had gone away from Ibrahim and good news came to him, he began to plead with Us for Lout's people.(74)
Holy quran: 11-Houd (verse 69-74)

The wife of Prophet Abraham was happy about their punishment because the people of Lout were very misguided and harassed Lout and his family a lot. After the good news of the child, Abraham started discussing with them about the people of Lout. The reason was that Lout was a friend and acquaintance of Abraham and also because Abraham was very patient and kind, so he asked for a respite and so on. But the messengers insisted that there was no way back.

Lout The prophet
Most surely Ibrahim was forbearing, tender-hearted, oft-returning (to Allah):(75) O Ibrahim! leave off this, surely the decree of your Lord has come to pass, and surely there must come to them a chastisement that cannot be averted.(76)
Holy quran: 11- Houd (verse 75-76)

But when the guests arrived, Lot was very upset because the messengers of God were very handsome young men and women and his people were completely immersed in the sin of homosexuality to the point that it gradually became a tradition! And when they found out, they were happy that some young people were guests of Lout! And they quickly informed each other and came to his house.

And his people came to him, (as if) rushed on towards him, and already they did evil deeds. He said: O my people! these are my daughters-- they are purer for you, so guard against (the punishment of) Allah and do not disgrace me with regard to my guests; is there not among you one right-minded man?(78) And his people came to him, (as if) rushed on towards him, and already they did evil deeds. He said: O my people! these are my daughters-- they are purer for you, so guard against (the punishment of) Allah and do not disgrace me with regard to my guests; is there not among you one right-minded man?(79)
Holy quran: 11-Houd (verse 78-79)
They said: Nay, we have come to you with that about which they disputed.(63) And we have come to you with the truth, and we are most surely truthful.(64)
Holy quran: 15-Hajar (verse 63-64)

It is said that before the opponents could do anything, the angels blinded their eyes. Then in the morning the command of punishment happened and Lout and the believers were saved.

Except his wife; We ordained that she shall surely be of those who remain behind.(60)
Holy quran: 15-Hajar (verse 60)

But who had informed the people of the city? In different sources and interpretations, it is said that the reason why the people of Lout found out about the guests was Lot's wife, who was a sinner and an accomplice of the criminals. She informed everyone by lighting a fire on top of the house. As a result, she remained among the sinful people and was destroyed. How were they destroyed?

So when Our decree came to pass, We turned them upside down and rained down upon them stones, of what had been decreed, one after another.(82) Marked (for punishment) with your Lord and it is not far off from the unjust.(83)
Holy quran: 11-Houd (verse 82-83)

How did the people of Lout become homosexuals?

Different narrations state that: In fact, their city was on the route of many passing caravans and various and numerous caravans stopped and rested among them. Since those idolaters were stingy and in some sources it was mentioned that they were also robbers, they started this shameless act to prevent the caravans from stopping among them or as a punishment. It spread and became so common that they became immersed in sin and this sin became normal for them, which consequently they were destroyed by a severe punishment.
